To court the Chinese community, Perikatan Nasional secretary-general Azmin Ali has highlighted a recent meeting between the coalition and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) to demonstrate its support for Chinese business owners.
This is despite FMM being an organisation that is open to all races.
Azmin (above) urged the Chinese community, particularly in Selangor, to give PN the opportunity to govern the state and revive the economy.

“Two days ago, the PN chairperson (Muhyiddin Yassin) met with Chinese business owners and industry leaders, led by FMM president Soh Thian Lai.
“During the dialogue, Soh stated that Muhyiddin and PN saved Malaysia’s economy during the Covid-19 pandemic through economic stimulus packages that rescued hundreds of thousands of companies in Selangor and across the country.
“We were the saviours and provided solutions. I stand here today, appealing to the Chinese community across Selangor - give PN a chance to save the economy and foster more sustainable growth for the state’s future,” Azmin was reported as saying by Sinar Harian.
He was speaking at a Chinese New Year dinner at Palm Grove Restaurant last night.
Although its president is Chinese Malaysian, FMM does not impose racial restrictions on membership. Instead, its council comprises members from various ethnic backgrounds.

‘Madani has failed’
The Selangor PN chief added that Malaysia relies too heavily on migrant labour, leading to a decline in productivity and a lack of new opportunities.
Azmin also claimed that many foreign investors have lost confidence in Malaysia under the Madani government.
“PN is not a narrow-minded party. We want to use PN’s platform to help the people of Selangor.
“We can see that the economic problems are severe, with many business owners in Selangor and across the country seeking new opportunities, business-friendly investment policies, and a fair, efficient, and effective system.
“But the Madani government has failed. Just look at the economy - many foreign investors no longer have confidence in Malaysia,” said the Selangor opposition leader.
